Utilities Management
Unless your property is let under an all inclusive arrangement (which is most unusual), the tenant will be responsible for paying the utility bills:
- Gas and/or oil
- Electricity
- Water
- Council tax
SIPS will arrange for appropriate meter readings to be taken and the respective utility provider to be advised whenever there is a tenancy change, as well as informing the council tax office.
Managing the utilities is important, particularly with users having the choice of utility providers. SIPS insists, as part of the tenancy agreement, that it is advised of any change in utility provider so that proper track and management can be kept in this respect.
It is normally the responsibility of the tenant to advise the telephone company when taking up a tenancy or vacating a property.
Note: If the property is leasehold then the landlord retains responsibility for paying the ground rent and any maintenance charge.
